Planning for those first few days

Alright, so far I have decided on some great activities I will be using on the first day of school....I have even gotten a hold of a great "script" that I could tailor for my purposes for those first few days....you know, the days that will really determine what the rest of the school year will be like! : ) I found a "plan" for making a list of important "routines" that I need to discuss right from the start and have already started mapping out what we will be doing for the first 10 days just to make sure that these routines are properly reinforced. If there was anything our class had "down pat" last school year, it would have been our "morning routine". It ran well and smooth....so needless to say, we will be continuing that again this school year and I have decided to include a video of one of a variety of patriotic songs as well. Have already started downloading the videos from youtube....via a free and super easy Mozilla Youtube downloader (in case by chance there is a single soul that has not already discovered it here's the link https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/easy-youtube-video-downl-10137/ ) Okay, so for now, I feel good about what I have accomplished for today....I hope you are getting along with your planning as well. So, until next time....

Yet another day on the blog.....

It's been a nice Sunday afternoon....the sun's out, no rain, good food, and family here for a Sunday visit....nice...
The last day of summer is fast approaching which means the first day of school is coming up fast. Awwww..these summer days will be replaced with the business of lesson planning, getting to know students, collaborating with colleagues, school committee meetings and the such. So, with the first days of school creeping closer and closer I need to make the time to plan for those days...I have already started searching the net for fun "back to school" activities, ideas for bulletin boards and classroom layouts. These are all exciting things to plan for but personally, I need to write things up and plan them out in order for them to materialize....I have found all too often, the best ideas and plans fade away in the wind without being realized just because I did not take the time to write them out. So....I will be dedicating my blogging time to my "planning time" for heading back to school....For starters, like I said on a previous blog I have found some really awesome 1st Day of School activities. I will add the link to that site at the bottom of this. This site has many, many links to fantastic resources teachers of all grade levels can use. Good luck searching for ideas that work for you....
Until next time...

The making of my classroom website

Talked about creating a website for my classroom and after today's tech class I got some really good ideas on The "stuff" I should include. I'm taking this experience as a "trial run" and hoping to "tweek" it just right by the time I actually use it in class. I used Yola to create this site but am fiddling with other free site creators hoping the find one that really works for me. Wish me luck....until next time....

Just wanting to share

Hi, since signing up for this gateway to technology class I have been doing a little searching on the www for good blog resources I could use as a teacher. I started out by searching out for the best blogs for teachers and came up with a list that Scholastic has put together. They have written a review of their top 20 BEST Take a look at their list and see if any of them peeks your interest. One in particular did me and so I hope you find one that is useful for you. The link below will take you right to the Scholastic article. Until next time....

just thought I'd mention....I found some really awesome "first day of school" activities at one of the blog spots I found at this site. Good luck and keep on "teching"!

Techie in the making!

Am really enjoying all the new things I am learning in this gateway to technology class I am taking! Currently working on finishing a classroom website and while I still have a lot of kinks to work out, I'm really having fun with it. I teach at Marcial Sablan Elem School in Agat. Found out last school year that many of my students do not have computers or computer access at home, but will still make this available for them anyways. It would be awesome if we got internet access at school and if we really did get the laptops promised as part of taking part in this course....but we'll just have to wait and see. Nonetheless, I am still excited about learning about all the different ways of implementing technology in the classroom and the different ways of communicating not only with parents and students but with other colleagues as well. Anyhow, until next time....keep your attitude on the positive side and SMILE at everyone you meet...it may be just what they needed to have a great day!

Time to get started!

Alright, started this blog a few years ago as an undgrad. Had some fun with it then, but never really got "into" the whole blogging thing. Now, I'm once again in a "techy" class, this time as a teacher and figured I really need to get going with keeping up with technology. So here I go, giving this blogging thing a try. Wish me luck!
